Description

Ford 6.4 Powerstroke Full Delete Kit with SCT BDX (2008-2010)

The 2008, 2009, 2010 Ford 6.4 Powerstroke Delete Kit with SCT BDX combines custom engine calibration with a DPF/CAT exhaust solution and an optional EGR removal package for off-road F-250, F-350, and F-450 pickups. The package removes major factory restrictions, stops regeneration after correct tuning, and allows selectable performance calibrations.

What's included in 6.4 Powerstroke delete kit

  • SCT BDX Tuner - A handheld programmer used to load the vehicle-specific custom tune through the diagnostic port. The BDX also supports diagnostic functions, monitoring, data logging, and reading or clearing DTCs.

  • 4-Inch DPF/CAT Delete Pipe - T409 stainless steel pipe that replaces the factory diesel particulate filter and catalyst section while retaining the factory downpipe. Clamps, hangers, fasteners, and required mounting hardware are included.

  • 5-Inch Exhaust System - An optional stainless steel downpipe-back configuration for owners who want a larger path and deeper note. Installation hardware is supplied with the selected system.

  • EGR Delete Kit - The optional 6.4 Powerstroke EGR delete kit removes the factory gas recirculation valve and cooler hardware. The kit uses block-off components, gaskets, and installation hardware matched to the 6.4L engine.

  • Custom Calibration - The SCT BDX receives a vehicle-specific tune based on the truck information supplied after purchase. VIN and tuner information are required before the custom file is prepared.

The 2008-2010 6.4L platform uses a DPF, diesel oxidation catalyst, and EGR system. The factory engine does not use a urea DEF or SCR system.

Vehicle compatibility

The SCT BDX kit fits 2008-2010 Ford Super Duty pickup trucks equipped with the 6.4L Powerstroke diesel.

  • Years: 2008, 2009, 2010

  • Make: Ford

  • Models: F-250, F-350, F-450

  • Engine: 6.4L Powerstroke V8 diesel

  • Body style: Pickup

  • Transmission: 5R110 automatic and supported manual applications

  • Factory emissions equipment: DPF, catalyst/DOC, EGR

  • DEF/SCR: Not equipped from the factory

  • Cab & Chassis: Not compatible with this pickup-specific Powerstroke kit

Cab and bed configuration should still be confirmed before ordering the pipe option.

Performance & tuning

The SCT BDX custom calibration provides several selectable output levels for the 2008-2010 6.4L Powerstroke while also recalibrating the engine for the selected off-road exhaust and EGR configuration.

Key benefits of the tuned configuration include:

  • No forced DPF regeneration

  • Reduced exhaust backpressure

  • Stronger throttle response

  • More towing power available

  • Improved fuel economy potential

DPF regeneration

Disabled with correct off-road calibration

Exhaust restriction

Reduced after DPF/CAT removal

Fuel economy

Approximately 3-6 MPG improvement may be possible depending on use and tune

EGTs

Can decrease when restriction and regeneration are removed

Towing response

Diagnostics

BDX can read and clear supported DTCs

The 6.4 Powerstroke tuner uses a custom file rather than relying on an unknown generic calibration. Vehicle information should be submitted and the correct file should be received before emissions hardware is removed.

Which configuration should you choose?

The four available configurations let the buyer choose between retaining more of the factory pipe  or replacing the exhaust with a larger 5-inch system.

5″ Exhaust System

With EGR Kit

The 4-inch Delete Pipe uses the original downpipe. The 5-inch option replaces the downstream exhaust section rather than adding a new turbo downpipe.

How the delete kit works on your 6.4 Powerstroke

The DPF delete kit combines mechanical pipe changes with matching ECM calibration so the 6.4L Powerstroke no longer relies on the removed aftertreatment hardware.

  1. Custom calibration disables factory DPF regeneration strategy.

  2. Delete pipe removes DPF and catalyst restriction.

  3. EGR hardware option stops exhaust gas recirculation.

  4. Reduced restriction lowers exhaust backpressure under load.

  5. BDX calibrations provide selectable horsepower for different uses.

The calibration is an essential part of the Powerstroke delete kit because physically removing the particulate filter without matched engine software can trigger warning lights, DTCs, and limp mode.

Installation information

The Powerstroke delete kit includes installation information for the selected exhaust and EGR components. An experienced DIY owner with suitable tools can install the bolt-on hardware, although cooler removal makes the complete Powerstroke delete kit considerably more involved than a pipe-only installation.

The calibration does not hide unrelated mechanical or electrical problems. A remaining code after installation should be diagnosed rather than assumed to be part of the removed emissions hardware.

Frequently Asked Questions

Removing the DPF regeneration requirement eliminates the active regeneration process that can contribute to fuel dilution on a 6.4L Powerstroke. The factory strategy injects additional fuel to raise exhaust temperature and burn accumulated soot in the particulate filter.

Correct calibration stops that regeneration strategy after DPF removal. Existing oil dilution, injector faults, or other fuel-system problems still require separate diagnosis and maintenance.

Yes. The SCT BDX configuration uses a vehicle-specific custom tune prepared from information supplied for the truck and tuner. The handheld does not need an ECM unlock on the 2008-2010 Ford platform.

VIN, BDX serial number, ECU strategy, TCU strategy where applicable, and relevant modifications may be required to prepare the calibration. The custom file should be received and verified before mechanical emissions components are removed.

Yes. The SCT BDX stores the original calibration and supports returning the truck to its stock software configuration through the handheld.

Returning the ECM to stock software does not physically reinstall the DPF, catalyst, EGR cooler, or other removed components. A mechanically stock emissions configuration requires the original hardware to be reinstalled before the factory calibration is used.

Yes. Replacing the factory DPF and catalyst section with a straight-through Delete Pipe or larger exhaust removes major restrictions from the post-turbo exhaust path.

Lower restriction reduces backpressure and allows exhaust gas to leave the engine more freely. The optional 5-inch exhaust provides a larger flow path and a deeper sound than the shorter 4-inch Delete Pipe configuration.

No EGR modification can guarantee that a 6.4L Powerstroke will never overheat. Removing the EGR cooler eliminates one heat-loaded recirculation component and prevents exhaust soot from continuing to enter the intake through the factory path.

Cooling-system condition, coolant flow, radiator efficiency, head sealing, fan operation, towing load, tune level, and EGTs still affect operating temperature. Existing overheating should be diagnosed before relying on an EGR modification as a repair.
